In addition to this, Staffing Requirements for different hospitality sectors and roles, responsibilities, and qualifications required for hospitality staff will be discussed in this report. The report will also cover operational, managerial, and legislative issues related to recent developments along with the current image of the hospitality industry. Finally, the report will demonstrate justified predictions for potential trends and developments in hospitality and the impact of trends and development.

TASK 1

1.1 Analyse The Current Scale, Scope, And Diversity Of The Hospitality Industry

The hospitality industry offers a broad range of services. This industry focuses on satisfying customers' requirements. It provides specific services to customers. People use these services when they have free time and money. The hospitality industry offers employment opportunities to people living in remote areas. Customers have different tastes and preferences in order to satisfy them they offer different packages. Industry employs more number of people to make their work more manageable. They offer services like food beverages, events, catering, restaurants, etc. The hospitality industry links with different industries to satisfy customers' requirements. The UK hospitality industry has a wide scope. It focuses on providing unique experiences to its customers. People spend their money and time to plan a vacation and holiday. The hospitality industry is a very profitable industry (Jauhari and Bharwani, 2017). This industry has the largest workforce size. They hire skilled employees to satisfy the specific demands of customers. The hospitality industry is among the fastest-growing industries. There are various types of diversity in this industry.

Cultural diversity has a positive impact on the hospitality industry. This facilitates the cultural glory of different countries. This structure follows a proper hierarchy to communicate information. Top-level management delegates work to the lower level. Managers provide employees with guidelines that help them in performing work effectively.

Professional bodies provide guidelines to the hospitality industry. They promote tourism and the hospitality industry. The British Institute of Innkeepers supports and give advice to employees whenever required. They solve grievances and problems of people working in organisation. Professional bodies motivate workers to express their feelings and opinions. Institute of Hospitality is a charity organisation, which promotes the hospitality industry. It provides funds for people who can not afford to go to hospitality school. This will enhance and increase the performance level of employees. They organise free training workshops for people. Organisation prefer to hire skilled and efficient employees (Liu and Pennington-Gray, 2015). Organisation and professional bodies are significant for the growth of the hospitality industry. It provides job opportunities to people. They train and guide employees. Examples of professional bodies are as follows.

  • People 1st is a professional body that helps in enhancing the performance of people. They suggest people solutions that help them in increasing performance. This act grants training certificates to hospitality colleges. People 1st supports the growth and development of local bodies.
  • British Hospitality Association plays a major role in implementing plans and strategies. This helps in creating job opportunities for people. This charity organisation contributes to the export earnings of the UK.
  • Institute of Hospitality is an educational system that provides knowledge related to the hospitality industry. They support people working in organisation.
  • Springboard UK motivates young people to achieve their goals. The hospitality industry offers job opportunities to people.

2.1 Staffing Requirement For Different Hospitality Sector

The hospitality industry is growing rapidly and it consists of a large part of the economy. After the recession in the UK, many people and families have taken up traveling businesses. To perform every function of the hotel, they hire employees. It is important to assign the right job to the right people. Managers adopt the strategic selection technique, which refers to selecting individuals on the basis of their skills and potential. It is very important to maintain a balance between skills and job. The selection process is planned and calculative. Managers shot list candidates and select them on the basis of their talent (Neirotti, Raguseo, and Paolucci, 2016). The selection process is a very complicated and expensive process. Effective selection of staff helps in increasing the profitability of the hotel. After selecting people managers train and guide them. The different department has different work, employees are selected according to the demands of the situation. HR matches people's efficiency with the job. They lay down the process of selection and recruitment.

They provide people with job descriptions, in which they describe the department and the work they have to perform. Job description is generally given newspaper or any other reputed media.
